Grey Seal

Head & body length: 230-320cm

Weight: 125-300kg

Overall colour is greyish marked with dark blotchy spots, fewer and larger than Common Seal. Head large with elongated muzzle giving ‘Roman nose’ or equine appearance. Nostrils almost parallel and do not meet ventrally.

Usually associated with rocky shores is less deterred by exposure to rough seas. Consequently commonest on western coasts but also on North Sea coasts.
