Water Vole

Head & body length: 150-220mm

Tail length: 90-140mm

Weight: 150-300g

Dorsally reddish, medium to dark brown or black, lighter ventrally to brownish or greyish-white underside.

Habitat: Usually within 2m of water’s edge. Most frequent along densely vegetated banks of ditches, Rivers, Streams and Marshes.

Active throughout the day and night but reduced in winter.
